Which is harder: Pre Calculus or Business Pre Calculus (formerly Finite Math)?

Question by Cam: Which is harder: Pre Calculus or Business Pre Calculus (formerly Finite Math)?
I need to take math which one is harder?
This is the class descriptions.

Pre Calc: This 5-credit, college-level math course is for students intending to pursue coursework in mathematics, the natural or computer sciences, or engineering. The course builds on the base of Math and assumes that the student plans on taking MATH&142. Learners investigate relations and functions in graphic, numeric, symbolic, and verbal forms. Modeling techniques are introduced while exploring exponential, logarithmic, polynomial, power, and rational functions. Learners investigate applications primarily from a science and engineering perspective. Students communicate results in oral and written form

Business Pre Calc: (Formerly Finite Math) This 5-credit, college-level math course is for students intending to pursue coursework in business, the social or life sciences, or management. The course builds on the base of MATH 095 and assumes that the student plans on taking MATH&148. Relations and functions are investigated in graphic, numeric, symbolic, and verbal forms. Modeling techniques are introduced while exploring exponential, logarithmic, polynomial, and power functions. Topics introduced include matrices, linear programming, population growth and math of finance. Special topics may include systems of non-linear equations, probability and counting, statistics, graph theory, and rational and logistic functions. Applications are investigated primarily from a life and social science, business and management perspective

Which one should I take? im not very good at math.

From the description, Business Pre Calculus covers more material:

Topics introduced include matrices, linear programming, population growth and math of finance. Special topics may include systems of non-linear equations, probability and counting, statistics, graph theory, and rational and logistic functions.

However, difficulty depends on how in-depth they cover the extra material. You’ll have to learn stats and linear programming at the same time, and those are not easy topics. So, just basically from workload, I would guess that Business Pre Calculus is more difficult.

  1. Joe Cool says:

business pre-calc is probably easier. But they are probably fairly similar. I would suggest looking at the teachers that teach the classes and choose the easiest teacher you can find on ratemyprofessors.com. If the easy teacher doesn’t teach business pre-calc that semester it shouldn’t really matter because they are about the same level. But if you are going into business, of course take business pre-calc.
